The Amazing Race Asia 3: 6th leg results (Hong Kong)

Welcome to Hong Kong! It was great seeing the junks at Stanley Bay, I’ve visited it in the past, and it’s a great place to chill.

The 6th leg results:

1. Vince & Sam
2. Henry & Bernie
3. Geoff & Tisha
4. AD & Fuzzie
5. Ida & Tania (“predetermined” Non Elimination Leg)

Good for Ida & Tania that never gave up this round, although compared to the tasks in the previous legs, this leg looks a little easier. Nobody got lost, there was no signs of fatigue, and it is a little refreshing to see everyone in high spirits!

Don’t be fooled though, judging from the preview for the next leg, it looks like it’s just the calm before the storm!

Looking forward to next week!

The Amazing Race Asia 3: 5th leg results (Taipei, Taiwan)

The 5th leg results:

1. Vince & Sam
2. Henry & Bernie
3. AD & Fuzzie
4. Geoff & Tisha
5. Ida & Tania
6. Mai & Oliver (DNF, eliminated)

I’m not sure if the day was as good for Geoff & Tisha as Geoff had put it, and it’s a sad day that Oliver & Mai were eliminated. You can see how the contestants are already affected by the extreme fatigue, especially Bernie. Hope she doesn’t break in the remaining legs, they’re doing so well right now.. Also, there’s already been 5 consecutive elimination legs, and we haven’t seen any NELs yet. Funny.

The race is getting tougher for Ida & Tania, who from 1st place dropped to currently, last. Best of luck to them the next race!

The Amazing Race Asia 3: 4th leg results (Taiwan)

Zhao an, ni hao! Welcome to Taiwan! The 4th leg results:

1. Ida & Tania
2. Vince & Sam
3. Mai & Oliver
4. Henry & Bernie
5. AD & Fuzzie
6. Geoff & Tisha
7. Niroo & Kapil (skipped the last task, eliminated)

Niroo & Kapil faced a lot of difficulties with the car; they are not able to retrieve the keys, and with Niroo not wanting to leave the car unguarded, caused huge delays with their tasks. Niroo probably turned the car off without putting it to “P” (Park) mode, resulting in the keys being stuck at ignition, a normal occurrence with automatic transmission cars.

On the other hand, Mai has been showing a lot of improvement since the 1st leg, there’s a lot more enthusiasm and good overall attitude coming from her! Mai, keep up the good work and hope to see more good things from you!

Till next week!

The Amazing Race Asia 3: Natalie speaks

As we all know by now, Natalie and Pailin, the Beauty Queens, have been eliminated from the race. From what’s seen on TV, Natalie seems to be the “fragile” one, in a puteri-lilin kinda way. I can’t help but empathize with Pailin, who does seem to be a strong racer. She would definitely race better, paired with a stronger partner, someone like Oliver. Hopefully there’ll be an Amazing Race Asia All-Star with them in it!

Back to Natalie, she gave her side of the story over at the Amazing Race Asia Blog: Natalie’s Blog Entry. To be fair, Amazing Race Asia *is* a show after all, subject to editing by the producers. And sometimes, what ends up on TV may not be partial to the contestants, for whatever reasons. But still, I wonder why she puts on the sweater instead of using sunblock. Wouldn’t heat stroke with the sweater be more dangerous than a reduced sunburn with a sunblock on?

And IMHO skipping the task was a bad choice, no matter how you put it. You didn’t give the producers any chance to let you stay on a NEL, even if they wanted to. Because with the 4-hour penalty, there is NO way your team can escape being eliminated the next round. Might as well eliminate this round itself, eh?

I sympathize with Natalie for the hardship that she went through and for the unseen footages of her hard work, but lets face it, it’s a race, everybody goes through the same hardship, and the series of bad decisions she made, coupled with her low morale due to under-estimating the toughness of the race caused their elimination.

On to the next leg later tonight! Sit tight!
