Sleep sheep cloud b, review

I’m pretty sure everyone saw this little sheep while shopping for baby stuff. It comes with a variety of other animals for different sounds. I’ve always wonder does the so-called soothing sounds work? I mean it’s not a cheap gadget to try out here and there. I recall seeing it in Mothercare and other baby stores for around Rm 350+ not something you would simply buy.

 Mini size sleep sheep

When i saw this at ToysRus having a sale on the go version i can’t resist and just had to try it out. Baby Berry never really had a sleeping problem. She can soothe herself to sleep and occasionally will refuse to take a nap. So i wasn’t sure how was it going to work on her or not.

It comes with 4 soothing sounds: stream, rain, ocean waves and whale sounds. A auto timer for 23 mins and 45 mins. A velcro tab to secure anywhere on the go.

Conclusion

I have to say every since i use the sleep sheep for baby Berry to sleep or nap, she does sleep faster. Last time she would roll around on the bed for half an hour and now most likely 10-15 mins. She would play with it press the buttons and eventually just doze off. She likes it a lot. The material is nice and soft just like any plush toy. She knows that the sounds are coming from the sheep she would fiddle with it.

Usually i put ocean waves for her but lately she found a new sound which is the water streaming and she doze off after pressing that button. I like how it has a auto timer so just leave it and it will just shut off by itself. She’s so use to it when it’s time to nap, she would bring me the sleep sheep then i’ll turn it on. I think it’s a good structure cause it tells her it’s time to sleep.

I did bring it out with me when i go out. She gets a little restless in the car seat at times so i thought maybe the sleep sheep can help. Well… i think it did. I think once she hear the sounds it’s like a signal for her to sleep. Eventually she doze off and it didn’t take long. I also took it along with me when i go shopping. She was relax in the stroller and calm.

For those with who has a hard time putting the baby to sleep, maybe this is worth a try. The soothing sound of nature actually have a have a calming effect. Good luck!

Guys, can’t get a girl? Have you had a reality check? part 2

Please read part 1 before continuing reading this.

Keeping it real

Target your potential partner that’s in the same level as you. You don’t want to go for a hot chick when you are not a very attractive person. Very simple, you can’t get Angelina Jolie unless you are Brad Pitt. Keep it realistic. Go for girl next door, simple, nice and sweet not necessary hot and smolder looking.

Show personality

I know lot’s of mediocre guys that has great personality. Girls love a sense of humor, try to win them over with your personality. Of course it has to be you and not pretending to be funny.

Have fun and take it slow. Every relationship start off as a friendship don’t rush into things and don’t be over friendly. Get to know each other and see if the friendship can turn into something more. If you feel she’s pulling away rather than moving along with you, take a step back and ask yourself, maybe she’s not interested. Don’t dwell in it or lie to yourself. At the end of the day you are the only one that’s going to feel hurt.

I have a few friends that are in their 30′s and still dwell in it and no one dare to tell them anything, cause no one want to hurt their feelings. Or some just settle for someone because they don’t want to be lonely.

Guys, can’t get a girl? Have you had a reality check? part 1

A lot of people….. well some of them are my friends always complaint about how they can’t get a girl. They have 101 reasons of why they can’t get a girl and think that they are making the right moves. But the fact is….. they are making all the wrong moves and have not had a reality check for awhile.

If you are one of those guys like Henry on Ugly Betty, smart, financially stable, nice, sweet, thoughtful and can’t understand why you are still single then there’s a problem.

First of let me say that all guys out there has all the qualities that i mention above, whether it’s true or not it’s another thing. When you meet your potential girl all guys will want to look like someone you want to bring home to your mom. Whether the motives are just want to sleep with you or not is another thing. Basically what I’m saying that you are no different then anyone other guy out there.

The question is why can’t you get the girl you want? Reality check:

Looks

Yes it’s a lame world and everyone want a good looking girl or a guy. I’m not saying that ugly guy or girl can’t get a date but is your potential candidate at the same level as you. I know i can sound a little harsh but it’s the fact.

Penny and Leonard (Big Bang Theory)

Yes everyone has this little dream in their head and hope that they can be like Leonard and find a Penny. I’m not saying you can’t but the chances are slim. If you really want to fall in love or find someone that will like you for who you are then you need to know what works for you and not a imaginary vision of a woman. For all you know the pretty girl might just use you and dump you later on, i’m sure you’ve heard of that.

Over confident because you are financially stable, have a good steady job

A lot of guys out there in this day and age thinks that having a good job, a good position and financially stable pretty girls will be flying in like birds. Well… this also mean that you have a snobbish characteristic that you might not have notice that turns people off. You might not have notice but other people do. This goes down to…

Personality

Bragging and showing off will also put off some girls. You might think well that’s what the pretty girls like. Yeah… but are they the good pretty girls you want. If you want a pretty one night stand go head buy her a LV bag. You know what i’m trying to say here.

Another type i can’t stand is courting the girl like when you are in high school. C’mon how old are you now? not in high school anymore. Writing poems, putting sand in a bottle, etc. You might think it’s sweet but it’s just childish. In fact it might creep the girl out. The girl might not tell you but from a friend, and later you find out that she’s always too busy to pick up your calls or even talk to you on Facebook :P

Be yourself, don’t be who you are not

If you can’t afford a fancy restaurant suggest some place like a cafe which is comfortable for both of you. I’m sure she won’t mind if she already agree on going out with you. I’m pretty sure she won’t mind. A casual place makes it less formal and a relaxing environment. Don’t pretend that you have the same interest when you don’t. You will be just cheating yourself and her. If the friendship goes further and she will eventually find out then she will feel cheated too. You will be going out the door.

I know this post is going to be long, don’t want to bore you guys so moving on to part 2

But at the meantime really think about it….

Beaba Babycook, review

 BEABA

If you have not heard about this little gadget it’s a cool little steamer and blender for your little one. It’s made from France and now available worldwide. So if you hear anything that’s made in France… means it is a little costly. But before you make up your mind, let me finish my review first before pass any judgement.

This is the complete set for Rm 699. I agree it’s a hefty price tag for a baby cook but in my opinion it’s worth it. The quality and design is excellent. A lot of baby food maker out there is just a hand blender or just a blender but this one does the steaming for you. When the food is cooked it’s not too hot so your baby don’t have to wait for it to cool down (but of course always check the temperature first before feeding the baby)

I never thought i needed a baby cook cause baby Berry eat porridge at home. But now that i’m away i needed fresh baby food for her and started to look at the baby cook seriously.

At first i was so reluctant to buy, not only it’s expensive what if it’s such a hassle to make the baby food then i would not use it and it’s wasted. So i did some research and watch some you tube videos had more information about it only then i had the confident to purchase it. I must say it was no regrets.

Portion set

It was so easy to use and make, what was i thinking. Just turn the dial to the left for steaming then follow the easy instruction of removing the food into the container turn the dial to the left and blend. That’s right easy as 1,2,3.

Freezer tray

Besides the portion set freezer tray are the most common way to store baby food. That’s right, in case you didn’t know all you need to do is to make your baby food once or twice a week and just freeze it. Pop one portion out and put it in the portion set container or any container that can fit into the Beaba and steam it.

I find that the Beaba accessories are a little too pricey. I have to admit that the design is great and all but some accessories are just not needed. It’s more of fashion than function :P This is just one of the baby cubes that i’m using and there are lot’s out there that are very affordable.

Other freezer alternatives

Baby cubes

I bought this at ToysRus for $7.99 (70ml) I prefer the cubes than a tray, it’s more convenient and useful for me. I just put 1 cube into the Beaba and steam and pour it out on the bowl. For bigger portions i feed directly from the container. I made sure that the container fit inside the Beaba. This is very convenient when i travel or go out. Just bring 1 or 2 cubes with you and just microwave when the baby want to eat (sit at Starbucks or while you eat just ask the restaurant to microwave it for you)

Lunch box

Today i went to William Sonoma and thought i wanted to buy this lunch box and i can’t believe that it’s so big. It comes with a plate a bowl and fork and spoon together with the cover. All of them are stackable but the size is just ridiculous. It’s definitely too big to bring out and i don’t need such a compact set up if i’m using it at home.

Cons: the size

It’s just too big. It can be use for a toddler only. You won’t be able to use it when your 6 month old is eating solids. The size is just too big, not appropriate for a infant. Can’t get maximum usage out of it.

Pros

I thought the design is good. All 3 items can be put in together: bowl, plate and utensils. On top of that it’s stackable (would be great if it’s smaller then it’s compact) It says that it can keep food warm for a few hours.  I definitely don’t doubt the quality but need improvement on the lunch box.

My first trial

I made chicken with broccoli. Yes it can even cook poultry that was my main concern before buying. I want it able to steam meat. Blending is control manually so that you can adjust the consistency. I made this a little grainy cause baby Berry is already 13 months.

I have made, sweet potato, carrots, fish, spinach and potatoes. I don’t really have any recipes just research online. Definitely check out momtastic. I think they have a lot of useful information. Beaba has their own recipe book but the price of the book is just ridiculous. It’s common baby food recipe you can find online for free.

Don’t forget you can also make fruit puree for your little one when they are 4 months old.

  Rice/pasta cooker

Hubby bought this but i return it back. It’s an insert to cook rice, pasta and grains. I’ve never used it but just didn’t think it was necessary at the time being. On top of that it has bad reviews of the rice not being cooked. If i really need it later on i’ll do my research first before buying it again. They have more interesting accessories that you might want to research before buying.

Overview

All in all although it might be a little pricey i think it made up for it’s convenient and quality. Feeding your baby healthy baby food is just never the same again. Trust me i know. I’m very lucky baby Berry eat jar supermarket baby food. I’ve tried all the brands from Heinz to Gerber and some Organic brand,Canada brand she eat all of them. So did i… and it just taste nasty. Ever since i bought the Beaba and see how fresh and healthy the food is compare to the supermarket ones. You will look at those can baby food in a different way.

I would highly recommend to mothers like myself which does not know much about cooking or even their way around the kitchen :P This little cooker does it all. I don’t have to use the stove or the microwave (which is not recommended to microwave baby food unless you really have to) So you don’t have to know how to cook. Just buy fresh produce chop it in little pieces and pop it in. Have fun!

Finally i’m back ^_^

With a new friend :)

After nearly 2 months with much anticipation i’ve finally got the new Macbook Air 2011. This is also my birthday present  hubby bought me,which i just celebrated a few weeks back.

I can’t believe how slim it is. Not sure how slim was the first generation but i think this one is suppose to be slimmer than the old one. I love how light it is, you can barely feel it on your lap. I think it’s even lighter than my 1st generation iPad.

I bought the 13″ didn’t want to have such a small lappie i might just go blind :P Love a proper  full screen makes me feel complete, hehe!

The best part is it comes with the latest Osx Lion. Lot’s of new features and i’m still learning the new stuff. The keyboard back lighting is just so nice…can type in the dark.

Gonna call it a day, it’s gonna be a long day tomorrow. More reviews and lots of new stuff to talk about. Night!

Quick update

I’m back to Toronto for the summer and still i have not gotten my notebook yet. Been waiting for Apple to launch their new refresh version of the Macbook Air. Sigh…. been waiting for more than 1 month +.
Miss blogging and i have tons of stuff to write and review. New baby experience and new make up reviews. Baby Berry is now a toddler!

My Macbook has been out of service, reason being….

It’s been slightly more than 4 years + and my Mackie has not been working for me for the past few weeks. At first i thought it was the battery but then hubby found out that it’s actually the charger. There for Mackie can’t be charged. I guess there’s nothing wrong with Mackie except that the charger is broken. Mackie can’t be turned on now and i’m stuck until i get Mackie for a thorough check up.

I’ll be blogging once i get full access to Mackie ^_^

Eyebrows, i brows…..

Eyebrows come in many shapes sizes and colors. It is one the features that’s very important to the face because it’s the “frame” of your face.Different shape and color can make a person look soft or strong. I’m sure a lot of girls are trying to find the perfect eyebrow shape and color that suits them.

Standard brow

This is the standard brow shape. It’s natural suit all ages and it never goes out of style. It follows your natural brow shape and define the arch along the way to make the standard brow.

  • Thin brow can make you look older
  • Thick brow i don’t know why would anyone want a thick brow? (it’s very 80″s)
  • Straight brow…. why?!

There are more shapes that i can go on and on but you get the idea.

To define the arch use a pencil or a brush to angle it against your pupil just like the picture above. After you have identify the arch, use a brow pencil and softly fill it in. If any mistakes just use a Q tip with some concealer to clean the mistake.

Be careful while drawing the arch if it’s too pointy it can make you look mean. You want it to be slightly rounded but still have the shape. Practice makes perfect.

Color

The color should always match your hair. If you dyed your hair brown don’t draw your brow with a black pencil. Wouldn’t that be weird? Pluck or shave off the baby hair around the area then use a brown pencil to fill it in. Best to use 2 shades lighter than your hair color so by the time it’s filled in it’s just the right color. Bear in mind that you still have your own brows there the color will blend together. It’s the same theory for light hair and dark hair.

If you have black hair you should not use black pencil as i mention above it should be 2 shades lighter than your hair. The most natural color should be gray for black hair and for brown hair it should be light brown pencil.

 Ayumi Hamasaki

For most Asians these days their hair is dyed brown and your brows need to match your hair color. You can see how natural that look. Imagine she had black brows, it would be just weird. If you dyed your hair red or auburn color there are eyebrow colors out there with a reddish tone to it (brownish red tone)

My recommendation for eyebrow pencils are Empro. They have all the colors i mention above and it’s easy to draw.

MAC 130 short duo fibre brush, review

A short, round, flat-topped brush ideal for the smooth, easy application of foundations, creams, emulsions, and select powder products. Features a blend of natural bristles and synthetic fibres.

After using 187 brush and liked it so so much i wanted something that’s more precise. I know that they have a smaller version of the 187 (which is the MAC 188 brush) but i felt that i needed the bristles to be shorter so that i can stipple it on tighter on to the skin. I guess MAC must have thought about that too cause they made one with shorter bristle ;P This was exactly what i wanted. I was so happy when i saw it on their website.

Although the material and texture is the same as the 187 brush but you can’t use the 187 to pack on smaller areas. The 187 brush is too sparse. In fact i wished they have a bigger version of the 130. The shorter bristle is definitely better to pack on foundation, blush, concealer, bronzer, etc.

I really like it because the shorter bristle can make stippling on easier and your make up stick to the skin tighter (if you know what i mean) Although the 187 is great but i find that the bristle is a little too long. I prefer something that’s more dense so that i can really pack on the foundation nicely. That’s because i feel it would do wonders when i do bridal make up where by i need to pack on full coverage foundation on my clients and it would sit nicely on the skin looking flawless and lasting :)

Having said that doesn’t mean i don’t like like the 187 it’s still a great brush. It is great for normal application cause it’s light and it’s gives a flawless finished. I know there are other brands out there that has the shorter bristle dense foundation brush i just need to know where to find it :P In Malaysia there’s not much choice people here are not willing to pay so much for a make up brush so not a lot of brands are available here.

I love to use the 130 to pack on concealer and blush. It’s perfect for those small areas and it’s precise, and it’s great for contouring too. Just like the 187 it can be use with cream, liquid and powder formula. So for me this is a must have brush in my book. The downside is that it is a little pricey. I forgot how much it was but it was around Rm 120+ but less than Rm 150. I don’t really own a lot of brushes but i choose what’s most practical for me and i always prefer quality.

If you haven’t notice i prefer to stipple on my make up then just brushing it on because i feel the application is more natural, better control and a flawless finished. It sits better onto the skin and minimizes the chance of it being streaky and not enough blending. Before purchasing any brush think about what you need it for and what type you prefer before making the decision happy shopping :)
