Daily Tips: How to increase your luck

Have you ever wondered about luck, and whether there’s anything you can do to increase your luck?

Yes, there is.

Gary Player is one of the greatest players in golf history, with 163 professional wins and 9 major championship wins. When he first played in the United States as a young man, he was generally regarded as a “lucky” golfer by the regular Tour players, as when he faced more seasoned and successful adversaries, he would end up winning, much to their disbelief.

And when someone commented out loud how lucky he was to keep winning the championships, he answered:

“Sure, I’m lucky. The harder I practise, the luckier I get.”

  • Actually with the knowledge of probability and statistic, you become “luckier” in many things you do, by increasing the odds that support you. That is how pro-gambler gets their luck. One poker champion uses von Neumann Game theory to win many many games. You use this knowledge in everyday life and lady luck will visit you always

  • Hi Relax, thanks for replying :) .

Today’s tip is basically a teaser, there will be a more detailed analysis of today’s tip tomorrow, and it will involve probability and statistic, which is also vital in determining how “lucky” a person can get in different types of scenario (i.e. game of chance, game of skill). And being a proponent and an active user of probability and statistics in daily life, I totally agree with you, knowledge of probability and statistic does help!

If you noticed, just equipping yourself with the knowledge may not be enough. You may know the concept, but if you don’t apply it, you may be as good as a two-left-feet dancer! Pro poker players practice all the time, and this is what today’s tip is about :)

    More tomorrow. Stay tuned!
